The AP English Literature and Composition course is part of the advanced academic offerings at CIMATEC, Escuela Especializada de Ciencias, Matemáticas y Tecnología, reflecting our ongoing commitment to academic excellence, creativity, and critical thinking. Designed for students with advanced proficiency in English, the course invites learners to explore major works of world literature through close reading, literary analysis, and reflective discussion on form, style, meaning, and social relevance to the current world and times.

Through the study of poetry, fiction, and drama, students develop strong analytical, argumentative, and writing skills that support their integral development and prepare them for the rigor of university-level coursework. Those who complete the course and pass the College Board’s AP Exam may earn college credit, as well as gaining a meaningful academic advantage that helps expand their future opportunities.

Recent results from our CIMATEC Class of 2025 demonstrate the dedication and excellence that define our school community. With an average score of 3.60, our students outperformed both Puerto Rico’s average (2.92) and the global average (3.24). Moreover, 100% of our students earned a score of 3 or higher, compared to 74.2% globally.
